Poklongarai Temple.

This post was originally published on 28 Jan, 2023, and moved here, to my new blog.

The Poklongarai towers were built for, well, yes, King Poklongarai. They were built during his lifetime, in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. He was a pretty popular king to the Cham people, and was revered for being good to his people, and for his accomplishment of constructing irrigation canals for the local farmers.

The construction is primarily brick, with surprisingly little mortar. Gravity seems to be doing the majority of the work. Possibly the dry climate helps with preservation, but they are in really solid condition still.

These bean pods are everywhere from the trees on this site. They make funny little hearts to satisfy the sappy romantic sides of silly old lovers like us.

Sappy romantics.

This temple complex is still used today as a Hindu place of worship.

More hearts, and silly us.
