A Little More Lighthearted.

This post was originally published on 6 Feb, 2023, and moved here, to my new blog.

Going back a few days here. This was the couple of days after my TIA, in the town of Nha Trang, Vietnam, where we visited the second of three hospitals. We managed to have fun in spite of the anxiety and not knowing. Not sure what these sparkle-bunnies were for, but weird and funny.

The local market was awesome, full of fresh, colorful, tasty fruit.

I just love these chili peppers. So colorful, and spicy. I think they are what makes all this food so delicious.

The crazy dried seafood section of the market. We challenged ourselves and ate one of everything, and then Tam got what she thought was a “slug” stuck in her belly for two days and a bit of GI distress for it. It was all a bit questionable, but some of it was delicious.

This one is upsetting. The Vietnamese are still consumers (way behind behind China at least) of shark’s fins and rhinoceros’ horn. So devastating. I am not going to go in too deep on this one here. Maybe later.

On a happier note, my favorite fruit in the whole world!

Rambutans…

…on a beach!

Tam and I enjoying a traditional ca phe trung, or egg coffee. It is a really strong black coffee with a layer of condensed milk in the middle and a whipped egg yolk on top. Sounds weird, but really, really good.

Tam found the most relaxing coffee shop ever, in a weird dark alley, in the busiest, noisiest part of Nha Trang. It was so peaceful in here, and just what the doctor ordered. There was a giant koi pond in the middle, with great lighting, lanterns, waterfalls, and even friendly pigeons.

And, no traffic noise.

We are nerds.

Tam found her favorite piece of furniture: A hanging egg chair. She is a lot cuter in it than I am.

I just love this girl like crazy!
