This kid!
He is actually 35 years old now.
We couldn’t say his name very accurately so we called hime by his nickname Rarm (we pronounced it rom because we are hopeless Americans). He was an exchange student from here in Thailand that stayed a year with us and the kids about 18 years ago. He was a joy to have around: The sweetest kid. We tried really hard to ruin him, taking him snowboarding, climbing, wakeboarding, fire dancing, and kayaking while he was in Bend with us, but luckily it didn’t stick. He is an awesome guy. He works for the government here in Bangkok, providing English translation as he says “with my crap English”. It turns out that we ended up staying at a hotel in Bangkok and finding out that we were actually about one block from his house. When we finally were able to get in touch with him we were so happy to find out how close we landed to him. In a city of ten million people, it is still a small world.
