Sometimes the road just runs out.
We were traveling in the North, tuk tukking along, minding our own business on the super primitive Karainagar Island Northwest of Jaffna, and boom!
No more road. We could see to Kayts Island, the next island we needed to get to, across a kilometer or so of the Indian Ocean, but we couldn’t float the tuk tuk across that far.
Or could we?

Hmmm. This just might work…
So we did. Here is a little video of our super sketchy ferry crossing. Well, the crossing was actually quite nice. The loading, unloading, and the quality and size of the boat and planks we used were the sketchy bit. This was a Christmas Day lifetime dream moment for me. What could be more fun than driving a tuk tuk down rotten old ramps onto a rotten old boat? Check that one off the list!
Here is the video. Enjoy!
Good clean fun, good adventure, and good times!
OMG, this made me smile so BIG! The music is PERFECT! And I’ll admit that when you backed up to get in position to drive Enzo off the boat, I was a lil worried that you’d go just a smidge too far … it really wasn’t very wide! Well done! 😀
