Last year I wrote a post called “Monkeying Around”, about some of the monkeys living around us here in Hua Hin. We have been back several times to Wat Takiap (or Monkey Mountain as it is more commonly known) to visit the temple there, even as it is protected by a pack of perverted little long-tailed macaques. Our friend Milo even had an ice cream cone stolen by one, and nearly lost his second ice cream to a surprise monkey ninja attack.
This isn’t about those little shits.
In that same post I wrote about the really friendly monkeys at a viewpoint park in the hills above town. These are the really nice monkeys.

Like last year, we bought a bag of tortilla chips from the little old lady that oversees the park (and uses her slingshot liberally to keep the monkeys from destroying your motorbike while you are wandering around), and went to explore the park and make some new friends.

The monkeys here at Khao Hin Lek Fai Viewpoint Park are the friendliest (almost too friendly at times, as you will see). This little guy was so at ease, and happy to sit and relax in my shadow and eat chips.

This moment with Tam was as beautiful as it looks. This little guy was just so sweet, very patient, and had the cutest little scarred-up face that just made him even more endearing.

He was just the cutest little guy. That hilarious smile (yes, I anthropomorphize).
If you were to wander around Monkey Mountain with a bag of chips like we do here, it is guaranteed you would be assaulted, and quite high odds that you would lose a limb in the process.

Here, on the other hand, the monkeys politely tap you on the leg, grab your hand, and prefer to just take a walk with you until they get some tortilla chips.

We had a lot to catch up on from the last year, and he was such a good listener.

We had a little picnic and shared some chips on the mountain overlooking Hua Hin.
And then there is always that one monkey…
a little friendlier and more confident than the rest.

I am happy to report that, in spite of the uninvited close-up climbing monkey, we all had a good time, the monkeys ate some chips, and nobody got infested with fleas or bitten by any rabid monkeys. A good time was had by all!
How lovely to just hang out and enjoy each others company!! Love the pics. Did you say Hua Hin???? That’s where we are going in November to check out retirement options!!!! How long are you there?
